Happy 5 monther

For Cash's 5 month birthday party (5.18) we took him down to Frenchtown pond and enjoyed a little picnic. Cash got to eat some of his new 'puffs' (which he sometimes likes and sometimes does not) and even got to go down the slide with Dad. He wasn't all that impressed with the slide....we're thinking that might be more fun in a few more months! We love you Casher!

Rice cereal

Tried rice cereal in a bottle....wrong nipple - nothing came out.

Bought new nipples.

Tried rice cereal out of a bowl. Nothing stayed in.

Put rice cereal in the bottle, new nipple.....sold!

Big city turn me loose and set me free

We packed up nearly everything we own the first weekend in May and headed to Billings to see Grandma and Grandpa Olson. The trip there went fairly well -- not much for crying and only one potty/dinner break. Cash got in lots of G&G time and Brent and I even snuck off to sit in the hot tubs one night. It was a nice break for everyone.

Saturday we went up to see Hanna and his girlfriend and they got us a free ticket up the beartooth highway, even though it's still closed to the general public. Hanna is doing the snow removal up there, lucky us! We even saw a mini avalanche -- I think my heart stopped for just a second on that one. Boy was it beautiful though! Stopped off in Roscoe to have a world famous prime rib....after a world famous racecar ride in a crew cab pickup! Brent and I found out that we both can get pretty carsick riding in the back seat with Big Jim driving!!! hahaha

Sunday...ah Sunday.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!! Mom turned 45 on Sunday (maybe I'm off a year or two!!!). :) And then, what do you know? It's Monday and time for everyone to head on home. Seems like it all went too fast, but we were glad to get some visit time in. Sure wish we all lived closer -- the ride home always stinks! We made it in non-record time after stopping twice for Cash, guess the ride home was a little rougher than the ride there. We are so used to just speeding off to our next destination....another life lesson taught to us by a 4 month old....slow down a bit....smell the roses!

And speaking of birthdays -- Brent got his early birthday present (they were on the way out, so I bought one 3 months early)...a Sioux hockey jersey. I think he likes it....he did wear it nearly every day! I've added as many pictures as I had on the camera, but I know for a fact that Big Jim has more -- maybe we'll all get to enjoy yet another slide show?!? Sometimes I think that there's too many slideshows on this little baby, but I want to make sure to get all the pictures up....there's too many good ones to just pick a few here and a few there! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Great Grandpa!!!

This post is a little bit late, but we had a great time with family in Pullman over Easter weekend. We were all able to celebrate Grandpa's 80th birthday together...I would've guessed 65! :) Cash got to meet his cousins, aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles and second cousins, not to mention half of Pullman's population. haha Thanks for all the great times (and cake) and we can't wait to see everyone again!! We love you Gramps!!!!

Tango and Cash

Cash went for his first ride yesterday on our friends' horse....Tango. We decided that we will have to get that horse for Cash when he's older - of course he'll probably kill us (if he even knows what it means)....Tango and Cash. Cute! :)

We had a nice relaxing weekend, besides our roundup on Friday night. Cash and I were out in an April blizzard, chasing horses with JW. Of course, what horse wants to be caught once it gets free?? It took a bit, but we got them in after about an hour of running around. Cash was in the Baby Bjorn, under my Carhartt, sucking his thumb and sleeping throughout the entire ordeal!

Sunday was a day of baking cookies, riding (Brent, JW, Glenn and Joe) and a fun dinner at Joe and Lisa's house. Don't worry, we didn't let Cash ride by himself. I'm not THAT bad of a mom - he just got to sit in the saddle.

Sunday morning coming down

I decided to skip my run this morning due to a scratchy throat that I just can't kick and some snow and rain. So....we all sat around in our pajamas and relaxed this morning - Mika and Cash too!







Not a whole lot happening out here, just waitin' on Spring. We've been keeping a close eye on Fargo and the floods and are happy to see that the water level is dropping by the day.




Cash is sitting in his highchair at the table with us, which is a nice change from one of us holding him while we try to eat or setting up his papasan chair on the table. Family dinners - yipee! :) He's growing, growing, growing....I think I spied a second tooth coming in, but no guarantees, I think my eyesight is starting to fail me. The first tooth is a definite though, even Brent saw it!




Well, we're off to relax.....we hope everyone is enjoying the last little bit of their weekend!

Dog poo Saturday...our favorite!

Wowee....what an exciting weekend at our house! First, Brent made delicious omelets for breakfast Saturday morning, then we all threw on our warm clothes and shoveled months and months worth of dog poop. Great to read about I'm sure, but hey, it took up quite a bit of time! That's even after Brent put the hurt on it last weekend. Not too thrilled with the outerwear!

I see you...

We managed to get a nice walk in and lunch on the deck before the rain hit and boy did it! Torrential downpour. This morning I went for my run - I am back to training for a marathon (that was the plan last year before our big surprise). I had a great run this morning, but the longer distances I run, the more I realize that I probably am not going to have the time to be running 26 miles at a time. So, even though I'm doing the training for the marathon, I'm thinking that at about half way through I'm just going to settle for the 1/2. We'll see what happens - maybe I'll all of a sudden get a lot faster!

We did a lot of basketball watching as well. Go NC! Both Brent and I have them winning the whole ball of wax. Cash seems to enjoy watching basketball as well, who knows, maybe he'll be playing guard at 6'5" by the time he's in college. With all this talk about how big he's going to be, we're probably just jinxing the poor kid. 5'5"....he'll get the short end of the stick.

Dad & Cash enjoyed some basketball together this afternoon. Cash got a little warm and got his first heat rash, so we let him hang out in just a pair of sweats. He seemed much happier!

Snaggletooth

You won't believe it - Cash has his first little toothie coming in. Brent calls him 'Snaggletooth'. You can't see it unless you open his mouth yourself, but if he were to smile, he'd have one pointy little guy on his bottom jaw on the left side!!! Does this mean we're going to have to do more hunting next year? Are we going to double our steak intake??


He's a pro at the thumb sucking now - he takes his entire hand, runs it across his face open handed and catches the thumb on the sweep. We think he'll be right handed....he's much better with that thumb. He does have a few problems here and there (as you can see in the picture), but for the most part it's Cash - 1, Thumb - 0.

Mom and Dad swung in for a Saturday night in Montana. They're headed to Big Timber to pick up Dad's Shiloh Sharps rifle. I would've gone, but heard that Tom Selleck wasn't going to be around for this trip - Mom's keeping her fingers crossed! She'd better get pictures if he shows up! :)

We are having SO much fun with Cash! I can't believe that every day we love him more and more - who would've thought? I think I spent the entire pregnancy thinking about all the things that I wouldn't be able to do anymore and it's the complete opposite. Everything I want to do, I can still do AND we get to add so much more than we ever considered doing! Yep, we were made for parenting.....we're thinking 14 is an acceptable number....I'm going to contact the octuplet mom in CA - I'm sure that she'll have some pointers for me (none for Brent)!!! :) I'd have to really get a purse if that happened.....and a minivan!! Just kidding....one little boy, 3 dogs and 4 chickens are about all we can take right now. If we lose a bird, we'll consider another baby....

The First Bath

I've finally figured out how to post slideshows, so there'll be a lot more coming! I just have to say though, the look on Cash's face makes this first bath look miserable, but I guarantee he never cried and he now really enjoys his baths!

A trip to Pullman

Okay, so I finally got off my lazy butt and posted some pictures from last weekend when we went to Pullman. Aunt Colleen and Uncle Bob had made reservations at the Hobbs Hotel, so Brent, Cash and I stayed with Great Grandpa!!! We had a wonderful visit and once again Brent got to enjoy the creme de la creme of Pullman.....Cougar Country!!!! I gotta say, I'm surprised at just how many places are closing down in Pullman, it never was all that big to start, but even Taco Time has closed it's doors - you know it's getting bad now.

Cash is so close to laughing and rolling over now. I feel like if I take my eyes off of him for one second I'm going to turn around and he'll have rolled to his belly and I'll have missed it. JW has officially changed his first diaper (he claims that he gagged and fell over, then got back up and 'slapped on a new diaper'). He (Cash, not JW) has also found his thumb....I don't think he's quite figured out that the thumb is actually attached to him and that he is in control yet.

Our new sofa has actually arrived (they originally told us that it would probably be here by Superbowl....hmmm....), so keep an eye out because soon I'll be posting some pictures of the finished basement.
